The Curator’s Crates: Volume 6
After a brief fall hiatus and platform change, .WAV Gallery returns with more music and event recommendations for you.
Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about DJs with Day Jobs. If you've already expressed interest, we'll reach out to you soon. If want to know more, please see the details below. As a note, we're switching over to email interviews due to scheduling constraints.
Before we begin, a note from OGD: Are you a DJ? Do you have an interesting or unexpected day job? We want to speak to you! Reach out to ogd.wav on Instagram or email ogd.djbookings@gmail.com to be interviewed over email. We’re looking for a diverse range of people to speak on their involvement in music how it relates to their work in other fields for a new segment called DJs with Day Jobs.

Remixology Project 001
Remixology Project 001 is a VA from the now defunct Breakbeat Science Recording label that was released in 2001. It shared a name and team with the New York drum and bass record store Breakbeat Science, which opened in 1996. The legendary record store was pivotal in bringing DnB to the U.S. scene.
This project consists of 4 remixes spanning the spectrum of breakbeat and drum and bass. Each extended track reinterprets the original with a unique twist, highlighting the creativity of producers like Future Cut, Stakka, Decoder, and Dune.
Overall, Remixology Project 001 is a quintessential early 2000s drum and bass compilation that is dark, technical, and forward-thinking. If you're only going to listen to one song, Decoder's remix of "Vertical Drop" by Dune is illustrative of the deep basslines, complex breakbeats, and dark atmospheric tones that carry through the rest of the VA.
If you're in the market for some earlier DnB, use the Wayback Machine to peruse their website.
On Loop
A Study in Flesh - Casino Hearts, 435T
435T's remix of "A Study in Flesh" is both hauntingly beautiful and impactful. The syncopated percussion and bass pulses create a hypnotic groove that transforms the original track into a glitchy atmospheric electronic piece.
INIZIO - EUROCLUB
"Inizio," Italian for "start" or "beginning," is a very fitting title for the opening dance & deep house track from EUROCLUB's recent release. The beautiful synth at the start builds into a layered melodic progression.
Handsup - Mura Masa
"Handsup" embodies the sensation of a party. Mura Masa starts this track with asking listeners to "shake your ass." Despite the high energy lyrics, the song presents itself as a tame ghetto tech track. However, about 1 minute and 30 seconds in it moves from 135 bpm to 170 bpm jungle- an incredibly welcome surprise.
In this series, I create a 30 minute to 1 hour set based on a genre-bending playlist. The goal is to experiment and travel between genres and energy levels in a way that is authentic to the music I gravitate towards outside of DJing. Ultimately, this series has been instrumental in shaping my personal sound. This is a classic OGD mix that ping-pongs between UKG, Baile funk, hyperpop, jersey club, and jungle. The only constant is high-energy music with movement in mind.
Email readers, you won't see the embedded mix, you can click the link above or here to listen.

Pan!c Room
Tuesday, December 2nd 10PM @ Bossa Nova Civic Club
Pan!c Room is one of the few collectives that can pull me off of my couch on a cold, dreary winter night (even a school night!). Join them for a night of techno, hardstyle, hyperpop, and more as they welcome guest DJs JESSXO, NYMPHOSTAR, & TWEAKINDEAD.
The Occupancy Episode 5: Recession Rave 3.2
Thursday, December 4th 10 PM - 4:00 AM @ Rash
This party series, curated by DJ Chineseboy2, is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Each event features shorter sets from more DJs than a typical club night, creating an atmosphere that feels lively and experimental.
blueshift
Saturday, December 6th 9 PM - 4 AM @ Private Ridgewood Location
Unravel and OnlyFemmes present blueshift: a genre-blending night of bass-heavy & club-ready sounds. The night is headlined by nextdimensional, a DJ, producer, and label head known for her global tours and innovative sonic vision. The event also showcases NYC underground leaders Gigi Rio and J.N.R . in their first-ever b2b set. Lepetitbox co-creator MANIMOGO and Celebrity Bitcrush will deliver a hybrid DJ/live performance. Rising talent Sofia V rounds out the bill with hypnotic, dark selections. Expect this lineup of forward-thinking artists to push the underground to new heights.
Bossa Nova Happy Hour: COMMUNITY SERVICE 002
Sunday, December 7th 7 PM - 10 PM @ Bossa Nova
UNKNØWN FREQUENCIES and DIFFÜSION are taking over Bossa Nova's Sunday happy hour. This is the second event in their series dedicated to artist exploration and experimentation. I am particularly interested in their focus on showcasing both DJs and producers while giving them the opportunity to develop their craft.
Helix will be the one to watch. With each set, she leverages her countless hours of club-going experience to create a dynamic dance floor experience. You can expect her to blend Middle Eastern and Indian elements with driving techno and hard groove rhythms.
Off the Record—No phones party
Thursday, December 11th 10 PM - Late @ Jade Bar
Fresh off their November anniversary party at Honey's, finding your niche is back with another no phones party. This event stays true to their mission to shift away from mainstream club culture and return the focus to the dance floor and the joy of being present in the moment.
Open House by Maxwell Höuse
Friday, December 12th 8 PM - Late @ Lalins Cafe
HöUSE is a visual and auditory Collective transcending the boundaries of the dance floor experience. All DJs are welcome to 20-30m sets at this Open Deck. All genres and formats welcome. No RSVP needed; come to DJ, listen, or have a coffee with good people.
SPLIT ENDS 2: Eclettica & Haustoria
HAUSTORIA, the longtime Astoria partystarters, and ECLETTICA, an up-and-coming event series, are taking over LIC Tonsorial and transforming it into a free ravespace. This epic party will feature 2-floors and 10 DJs playing a wide variety of genres, from house to techno to breakbeats and global dance tracks. I am particularly looking forward to sets by Peaceblvck and Krithi. Luckily, due to the organizer's attention to detail, set times will be staggered so you can see everyone.
.WAV Gallery typically focuses on recommendations located in Brooklyn. However, for the Queens-based group HAUSTORIA, we would take any amount of buses and trains. The group's cheeky motto "Don't Come to Brooklyn" makes sense after dancing the night away at their parties.
Thank you for reading!
